A statue of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the first full-sized statue of him in Montgomery, was unveiled at a ceremony in downtown Montgomery's Equal Justice Initiative’s Legacy Plaza, located across from the Legacy Museum. The event was attended by Dr. Bernice A. King, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s daughter, and CEO of The King Center, and acclaimed Atlanta-based sculptor Basil Watson, who designed the statue honoring King as well as the one commemorating Rosa Parks.
