South Huntsville Business Association Hires Executive Director
BEKAH SCHMIDT The South Huntsville Business Association has selected Bekah Schmidt as the organization’s new Executive Director.
A South Huntsville resident for five years, Bekah comes to the South Huntsville Business Association from Leadership Huntsville/Madison County where she served as the Marketing and Connect Program Director. Bekah graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a degree in Political Science & International Studies and was a University Honors Scholar. In May of 2018, Bekah received her Effective Facilitator Certificate through Leadership Strategies.
Her background is in program management, marketing, and fundraising. During her time at Leadership, she was responsible for the rebranding of the organization and launch of a new website in 2016-17. As a Program Director, Bekah lead Leadership’s second largest program, Connect Emerging Leaders. Through her role she worked with community leaders to identify, educate, inspire and connect emerging leaders to serve the community. Before working at Leadership Huntsville, Bekah was a Gifts Officer for the Huntsville Hospital Foundation and Resource Development Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama.
Bekah shared, “I am grateful for this incredible opportunity to work with the South Huntsville Business Association and Main Street Alabama to support, promote and advocate for businesses in South Huntsville. Thanks to the hard work of South Huntsville’s community leaders, we are strategically positioned for growth and success. Together, we will continue to move the needle for the South Huntsville community and create a community where residents can ‘live, work, shop, play, and....relax’.”

She is a member of the WEDC, is the Community VP Elect of the Junior League of Huntsville and graduated from Connect Class 18. Bekah and her husband Stephen have two children, Kyle (age 4) and Emma (age 2). She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and a good cup of coffee. As an extrovert she rarely meets a stranger, is an ENFJ, and feels privileged to call South Huntsville home.
