There's nothing negative about getting railroaded in Atmore. Tracks split the town of 8,000 people, frequently bringing cars of CSX and the Alabama and Gulf Coast Railway rolling through. Atmore, in fact, is the "Official Alabama Rail Welcome Center."

Being the first in any arena often takes time and effort. William E. "Bill" Cooper ran a successful race to become the first Black elected mayor of Enterprise after being the first Black elected to the City Council, where he served for 30 years. He has now served more than four years as mayor.
Mural on Merchants Alley in Athens finished, renovation project close to complete
Athens Main Street (AMS) is one step closer to completing its revitalization of Merchants Alley. Artist Adam Stephenson and assistant Pamela Tellez Coria have completed work on "Playing the Sound of the Wind," a mural spanning 20 feet high and 40 feet wide that is set to become the focal point of the music-themed alley.
Once a pandemic side job, Gussied Up Flower Truck marks one year anniversary
Despite a little rain, Dinah looked as pretty as ever for a recent photo shoot in downtown Dothan. The 2015 baby blue Mitsubishi mini-dump truck overflowed with an assortment of colorful fresh-cut flowers, greenery, and fillers. Owner Lesley Marshall couldn't be more proud of her little side business, the Gussied Up Flower Truck, which she started nearly a year ago to brighten people's spirits during the pandemic.
