2 Alabama cities receive Main Street Alabama designation - find out more
You may not know it, but having a thriving, central downtown area can uplift a community for generations. After years of involvement, Russellville and Centreville have both officially become fully designated Main Street Alabama cities.
Why this Alabama town loves Pete the Cat
Right in downtown Fort Payne is a set of bronze statues to honor country supergroup Alabama, who famously hails from the small northeast Alabama town. And right across the street from them is a huge mural of the town's other superstar, Pete the Cat.
Anniston Receives Almost $75,000 from Alabama Civil Rights Preservation Projects
The National Parks Service (NPS) awarded $21 million to 16 states from money Congress appropriated for the African American Civil Rights Grant Program through the Historic Preservation Fund. In Alabama $3.1 million in grants were awarded to six civil rights preservation projects in Alabama.
