Elba, Fort Payne and Jasper named newest Main Street Alabama Cities
Main Street Alabama is pleased to announce Elba, Fort Payne and Jasper as newly Designated Main Street communities. They join Alexander City, Anniston, Athens, Birmingham, Decatur, Dothan, Gadsden, Eufaula, Florence, Monroeville, Opelika, Oxford and Selma, and will begin work on revitalizing their downtown commercial cores utilizing the proven Main Street Four Point Approach® focusing on Organization, Promotion, Design and Economic Restructuring.
City announces Main Street designation
A press conference with minimal fanfare was held Wednesday to officially announce Spirit of Athens’ designation as a program accredited by the national Main Street organization.
7 Main Street Alabama Programs Receive 2015 National Main Street Accreditation
Main Street Alabama announces of its programs have been designated as accredited National Main Street Programs for meeting the commercial district revitalization performance standards set by the National Main Street Center®, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. AlexanderCity, Athens, Birmingham, Florence, Gadsden, Monroeville and Oxford each received the national accreditation.
Atmore to join Main Street
Atmore, along with several other communities in the southern Alabama region, will be joining together to begin work toward becoming a part of the Main Street Alabama Program.
The mission for a "vibrant, alive downtown"
Downtown Jasper is one step closer to becoming a designated Main Street Alabama city. The program, which serves to revitalize downtown communities in Alabama, could bring a visionary approach for the area — but there is a process.
