Main Street Alabama launches new program
We're so excited, and we just can't hide it! We officially launched Sweet Hometown Tours: Alabama's Main Street Trail, and there's nothing but forward motion from here!! A statewide trail system showcasing the Main Street experience in the state's 33 designated communities, Sweet Hometown Tours acts as a roadmap to help residents and visitors best explore the state's amazing downtown districts-and at the perfect time, too! 2025 will be the Alabama Tourism Department's The Year of Alabama Trails, and as we anticipate a busy year of fun and exploration, we'll share plenty of ways you can make the most of this exciting trail.
The Economic Benefits of Historic Preservation

The positive impact of preservation efforts can create a lasting legacy in a community. Sixteenth Street Baptist Church Receives National Preservation Award
The resilience of its story and preservation efforts continues decades later, and because of this, Sixteenth Street Baptist Church was the recipient of the 2024 National Trust for Historic Preservation Trustees' Emeritus Award for its successful restoration and revitalization efforts. Downtown Enterprise showing off pets with new banner program
Want to show off your family pets in a big way? As part of a new banner program, Main Street Enterprise is offering an opportunity to purchase a double-sided banner with a photo of "Fur"iends! Banners will be displayed on the streets of downtown from January through May with all proceeds from the program benefiting the beautification and revitalization efforts for downtown.
