After gathering information from area community members this week to determine how to best revitalize downtown Jasper, officials with Main Street Alabama are preparing to announce their initial findings.
The revitalization resource team will give its report from 4:30-6 p.m. tonight at Bevill State’s Mathews Lecture Hall (Room 105) located in the Wade Math & Science Building on the college's Jasper campus.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting.
Mary Helmer, state coordinator for Main Street Alabama, this week asked those who took part in the recent discussions to express their desires regarding downtown Jasper. Most say they would like to see more a diverse offerings from downtown merchants and fewer empty buildings in the district.
Also discussed at the gatherings was the desire for additional downtown parking.
