Various groups do the projects to enrich the quality of the city for its citizens and its visitors. They don’t expect to win awards for it but they did this week. Athens won four awards from Main Street Alabama for everything from beautifying Jefferson Street to upgrading the Farmers Market to promoting the Haunts Walk.

 

“The awards we won show we have several groups invested in our downtown so that it remains beautiful, vibrant and economically healthy,” said Spirit of Athens Director Trisha Black.
