Columbiana, Ala. — Governor Robert Bentley returned to his hometown of Columbiana Wednesday evening to mark the city's designation as a Main Street Community. With that distinction Columbiana will now receive help from Main Street Alabama to revitalize downtown.
Wednesday Governor Bentley said he has a lot of great memories in Columbiana and he's happy the town is now part of the Main Street program. "It's just great to see small towns thrive and survive and small businesses develop because that's where most of the jobs come from...you see some small towns that are dying and they're just not vibrant."
Governor Bentley said dying towns are bad for Alabama. "Small towns are the backbone still of this state."
