DOWNTOWN ANNISTON DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY BUILDING IMPROVEMENT GRANT

Main Street Anniston and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) are excited to announce a partnership in establishing the Building Improvement Grant program for: (1) For-Profit Businesses, (2) Nonprofit Corporations, and (3) Private Citizens within the defined boundaries of the Downtown Anniston Historic District and West 15th Historic District. The grant funds from this program are provided by the DDA, an incorporated entity that is separate from the City of Anniston’s Municipal Government.

Under this reimbursement program, eligible applicants may apply for up to $5,000 in reimbursement funds for any of the following projects, as long as said project meets all applicable criteria:

Eligible Activities:

1. Architectural design assistance (100% up to $1,000, if used and approved).

2. Façade renderings.

3. Signage (50% up to $1,000).

4. Murals (50% up to $2,500).

5. General exterior restoration, including removing and replacing façade materials, and repairing architectural features.

Eligible Restoration Activities:

1. Exterior commercial cleaning, repairing, or painting exterior surfaces.

2. Fixing or replacing doors, windows, and entrances.

3. Working on railings, ironwork, cornices.

4. Installing or repairing awnings, canopies.

5. Restoring original architectural details.

6. Updating integral signage and lighting.

7. Improving disability access.
